Requirements

Please note that the answers only refer to applications as Cabin Crew Member (all genders) at Lufthansa City Airlines.

A certificate is not required. You must be able to speak German and English very well (at least B2 level). Whether this requirement is met will be checked as part of your application process.

As a Cabin Crew Member (all genders) you will be responsible for safety on board, among other things, so the ability to swim is a prerequisite for the job. This will be assessed later in the application process. The following skills are required (equivalent to the German Youth Swimming Badge - Bronze):

  • At least 200m swimming in a maximum of 15 minutes
  • Approximately 2m deep diving from the water surface
  • Jump from a height of 1m

Yes. In some cases, wearing corrective lenses is even necessary for reduced eyesight.
Cabin Crew Members (all genders) require visual acuity of +/-5 diopters without corrective lenses.
This value also applies to laser correction: Before the surgery, the maximum diopter number must be +/- 5. At the time of the medical examination, the surgery must have taken place at least six months ago.

For standby duty, you must arrive at your home base airport within 60 minutes. Therefore, it is advisable to live nearby.

The basic training takes place over approximately six weeks at the training center in Munich / Schwaig. If you live more than 50 km away from the training location, Lufthansa City Airlines will provide you with a hotel room in the immediate vicinity of the training center in Schwaig, free of charge for the entire training period.

In principle, completed vocational training is not required in order to apply as a Cabin Crew Member (all genders) at Lufthansa City Airlines.

However, a completed secondary school education, such as a secondary school diploma or high school diploma, is required. If you have a secondary school diploma, you will also need two additional years of professional work experience to be able to apply as Cabin Crew Member (all genders).

As a Cabin Crew Member (all genders) you are a representative of Lufthansa City Airlines and should therefore wear

• no visible piercings
• no tongue piercing/no tooth jewel
• no tattoos in visible areas

 

Tattoos and piercings on the hands, neck, head, and décolleté are visible. Tattoos on arms, legs, and feet must be covered by uniform components so that they are never visible. They must also not be visible through the uniform.

This will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. A follow-up appointment is required. We cannot guarantee employment, even if the tattoo has been removed. We do not demand or explicitly advise having tattoos removed.
